This is the natural childbirth story of my daughter Kate.
My water broke about 10:15pm on May 31, 2006. I was 39 weeks exactly. I took a quick shower and we headed to the hospital. We called ahead and they had a room ready when we arrived. I was 5 centimeters dilated at my doctors appointment the previous day. I told the nurses and doctor that I did not want a epidural.
You see, I had an epidural with my son Connor. We did not know this at the time but I was fully dilated when they gave me the epidural so he was born shortly afterwards and I felt everything anyway. We also got a expensive bill for the epidural after he was born.
Remembering my previous birth I knew I wanted to do it natural.
The contractions started getting very painful about 12:30 am. I had been having slight to moderate cramping until this point. I started pushing on my own about 1:15 am. The pushing relieved my pain. At 1:49am Kate was born. I felt so good! I truly felt like I could have gotten right up and walked out the room with her!
She nursed great soon after birth. I was up walking around the room about 2 hours later. I did not feel this good when my son was born. The drugs made me sore and I did not get out of bed for the entire day. I recommend having a natural birth to anyone I know that is pregnant.

Vanessa's natural birth story shows that when birth is left alone to proceed as it should, it waits for no one - not even doctors or midwives.
